You Capture: Water

Photobucket

I almost forgot about this week's challenge, so we decided to take a nature walk the other night when Ted had a rest day from biking.  I was trying to be more creative than just taking a picture of the lake, but this first picture was unexpected.

I love how these challenges are encouraging me to take out my camera and try something new.  Now, if only I had more time to play around with the manual features...

You Capture - Fun

Photobucket

I almost forgot about this week's You Capture challenge, but, thankfully, when you are an SAHM to two little ones, there is always plenty of fun to be captured every day!

You Capture: Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Photobucket

Okay, honestly, this week's challenge was tough, because I took over 200 photos over the weekend.  To narrow it down to my ONE favorite photo was really hard.  On the way home from another WORS race on Sunday, we had to stop once for A to nurse.  I saw this sight and just had to take out my camera.  This is almost straight out of the camera - all I did for editing was add a tiny bit of vibrance and cropped the picture a tad.  I just love how you can see the shadow of the church steeple amidst a beautiful sunset.

You Capture - Sky

Photobucket

I had fun with this week's capture, even though I had already captured my favorite sky picture a few weeks ago.  We drove to my aunt & uncle's home in Door County and I had fun capturing some more sky pictures.  As I looked up to capture my sky pictures, I couldn't help but stand in awe of the One who created all things.

"For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them..."
(Exodus 20:11)

"Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it." (Deuteronomy 10:14)

Sky, 5-27-10, #1

"You alone are the LORD; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and everything on it, The seas and all that is in them, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You."
(Nehemiah 9:6)

For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD?
 (Psalm 89:6)

Sky, 5-27-10, #3

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
(Psalm 8:3-4)

Sky, 5-27-10, #4

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
(Psalm 19:1)

My hubby just told me tonight that he has a perfect idea for a date night - taking a walk at the park where we got engaged and watching the sunset so I can take pictures.  Oh how I love this husband of mine!  Now, of course, I have to figure out how to get myself together enough for a date night because we desperately need one.

You Capture - Depth of Field

Photobucket

A sweet blogging momma I met at Cupcake, who happens to be an amazing photographer, hosts a weekly photo challenge called You Capture.  Several other bloggers I met at Cupcake join in on the fun, but I always felt intimidated.  Now that I have a new camera, I decided it was time to join in on the fun and hopefully learn more about photography in the process.

This week's challenge is depth of field, which basically means focused subject and blurry background.  I have been trying to figure out how to do that all week, but finally got some pictures this afternoon as the kids and I were soaking up some Vitamin D.  Of course, I was still using the automatic features, because I have yet to figure out the manual features.  They're not the best DOF, but they're a start.

Our yard is full of these...mostly because I don't have a green thumb.  But, I think I like the natural state of my yard anyways (or, at least, that's my excuse!).
