Yesterday I pulled out a bunch of baby photos from when I was a baby and it got me reminiscing about old memories...so I thought I'd join in on Lynnette's blogging event today. It was hard to decide what one memory to reminisce about, but I finally decided. Maybe I'll join in again next week for more memories! ;)

Family Trip to Alabama
My parents loved to take our family on road trips (in our big 11 passenger "bus"van...which later became a 7 passenger conversion van...yeah, we were traveling in style!). One of my FAVORITE family trips was to Alabama. My parents rented a hotel right on the beach and, for the first time, we didn't actually plan a whole lot of tourist stuff. We planned it the week before we all went back to school, so it was a true time of rest and relaxation.
Most mornings my mom would take anyone who was awake early for a walk along the beach to watch the sunrise. Let me tell you, watching the sunrise on the ocean is something else! Then, we would make a delicious breakfast and head out for the hotel pool or a swim in the ocean. I am slightly afraid of swimming in the ocean, so I mostly waded and did my swimming in the hotel pool.
One of the days, my parents gave Melissa, DJ, and I a special treat - we got to go para-sailing! We were a little afraid of falling into the ocean and my brother was convinced he saw sharks swimming around (or maybe he just wanted to scare Melissa and I!)...but overall it was an amazing experience.
Another day, we took a trip to see the Blue Angels perform. Wow! That is certainly something you MUST experience if you're ever in the area - AMAZING is all I can say!
We also went on a dolphin cruise. The captain of the little boat was such a character. He teased me right away about being so pale, while most of my siblings were already tan from being out in the son. Funny, but no matter how much time I spend in the sun I don't tan. I'm just happy if I don't burn! The captain also let us each have a turn at steering the boat and let us wear his captain's hat for the experience. I don't believe we actually saw many dolphins, but it was a fun cruise nonetheless.
When we were driving around one of the days, we saw a bunch of beach houses for rent and decided that we would have to return one day when we're all married and have kids to rent a big beach house. That's still a ways in the future (since I'm the only one married and with kids), but I'm still holding onto that dream!
