Before we were mommy and daddy, we were you and me, best friends, companions, lovers.
Six and a half years ago, we said I do to a lifetime of doing life together, through good times and bad, in sickness and in health.
Those first two years, we fell into a comfortable routine, wrapped in each others' arms after a long day of work and life, bellies full from another home cooked meal and hearts fuller with our love that grew and grew.
Then, a week before our second anniversary, we became three. This little girl that made us mommy and daddy wrapped her tiny fingers around our hearts and home and our days became filled with diapers, picture books, and endless piles of laundry.
Now, six and a half years later, we are five. Three pairs of arms have written themselves permanently into our story and, at the end of a long day of parenting, work, and life, we fall into bed with barely a whisper of "good night" and "I love you".
Weeks, months go by with barely a moment for us and so we sit in the quiet of sleeping babes and setting sun and wonder how to find us again.
Because still, in the middle of the chaos of our days, we are still you and me, best friends, companions, lovers.
And as we wonder, we remember how love is a choice that needs water and nutrients to grow and that the little moments are what matter the most.
So, we take time to just sit, you and me, wrapped up in each others' arms, and whisper I do to slowing down and embracing our love, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.
Because we are now mommy and daddy, but we are always you and me, best friends, companions, lovers.
